The Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), in order to further local pandemic influenza preparedness efforts, placed high priority on exercising response plans with various community partners.  Schools are identified as a first priority in the response exercises.

Code Red Training Associates, Inc. was contracted by the Santa Clara County Public Health Department to design and write the "School Pandemic Toolkit," conduct the Pandemic Training Exercise and write the "School Pandemic After Action Report" for 33 school districts and over 500 private, public and faith based schools in Santa Clara County.

In conjunction with the Pandemic Training, the School Pandemic Toolkit (pdf) covers prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery activities in addition to Continuity of Education and Continuity of Business Plans. Translations are also available in Spanish and Vietnamese. Our pandemic school toolkit, training and tabletop exercise has been recognized as an Advanced Practice Tool by the National Association of County and City Health Officials, and, as the Toolkit is public domain, it is free to districts.
