Code Red Lockdown for Colleges and Universities

Resolve, reduce, and minimize

Code Red Training Associates, Inc. provides the school companion training to Active Shooter Response procedures used by law enforcement. The training was initially designed for K-12th grade, but following Virginia Tech, we have adapted the training for college and university campuses. While the approach is different with adults in the college environment, the basic goals remain the same:

  • Quickly resolve the threat
  • Reduce threat to life
  • Minimize confusion

Image descriptionOur protocols have been successfully used in resolving numerous armed intruder incidents on school campuses and our program has been called "one of the most progressive and effective school safety programs in the nation" by 9-1-1 Magazine (Sept/Oct 2003)

Our proprietary Code Red Protocols were developed in California and have been based upon extensive armed intruder/terrorist simulations as well as actual incidents. The training was developed specifically to integrate the needs of first responders, students, faculty and staff in order to provide a clear playing field while protecting campus needs.

The Training

Overview

Our 45 minute training is provided by an experienced educational trainer with local law enforcement participation. It can be provided for faculty, staff and students. Three primary topics are included, along with a brief overview of First Responder procedures:

  • Lockdown Procedures
  • Classroom, Office and Residential Hall Strategies during the lockdown
  • Evacuation Preparation and Procedures

Partnerships

Prepare for the Unthinkable

Law enforcement needs to know what to expect from faculty, staff and students so it is critical that local law enforcement is involved with the procedures the campus will be implementing.

E-Learning

Supplemental Training

It is often difficult to schedule all faculty and staff members into a Code Red Training session, so an e-learning can be provided as well. The goal is to train as many adults as possible so that people know how to respond in a critical incident.
