We fully understand that the true mark of a quality REMS program is that when the grant and consultants are gone, the district and schools are still able to utilize, modify and grow the initial training and materials to adapt to a wide variety of future circumstances.
While safety is the foundation for every school site, the reality is that crisis response and management is not an everyday occurrence for school personnel. There have been very few incidents that take place only in the administration building; most incidents occur where teachers must be ready to respond and understand the procedures. To that end, we train in "educator-friendly" formats, using either a multi-media approach or tabletops designed specifically for an educator audience.
Our goal is to make all training readily useable and easy to remember in emergency situations. Each administrator, teacher and staff member must be prepared to be the first responder.
REMS Partners
We are a proud to partner with McGuire Associates Disability Evacuation Program that meets the mandates of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by providing an in-depth training video/DVD demonstrating techniques for evacuating people with visual, hearing, mobility and cognitive/emotional impairments and a step-by-step guide for creating the individual Disability Evacuation Plan for each school.
Critical Event Mapping Software
Before investing in expensive and time-intensive mapping software, we encourage school districts to investigate Homeland Security's free risk assessment, mapping and management software program ACAMS. It is federal mandate that law enforcement uses this software program for identified community assets, including all schools.
Emergency Management Software
Code Red Training Associates Inc can provide Code Red Emergency Management Software that is customized for your district and your needs. It includes safety plans, emergency response plans and teams, contact information, and Continuity of Operation plans. Drills, maps and e-mail reminders are examples of what can also be included. There is a one-time licensing fee.
Joint Agreements
Joint agreements must be developed with the partnering agencies. Public agencies have their protocols in place. It is critical that the school voice is included so that procedures can be modified as necessary to meet the realities of school situations. Code Red Training Associates, Inc. can provide sample agreements and expediently facilitate this process, so that the agreements can be appropriately integrated into staff training.
