It takes a community to create safe schools...
In light of escalating violence, there are two initial questions that should be asked of the community and law enforcement:
- What are the procedures for local law enforcement response?
Following Columbine, the recommended entry is a swift and immediate deployment of law enforcement resources to on-going, life-threatening situations where delayed deployment could otherwise result in death or great bodily harm to innocent persons.
- Are the lockdown procedures being used and/or being considered by the school district, college, university or business integrated with law enforcement’s Immediate Action/Rapid Deployment tactics?
Training people to run through the building locking doors, turning off lights and hiding under desks waiting to be rescued can result in serious injury or death.
Our Code Red Training is integrated with the recommended with the post-Columbine law enforcement response. It is the companion civilian training and is designed to keep children and adults safe while law enforcement addresses the situation. While nothing is failsafe, Code Red procedures have been successfully used in numerous armed intruder incidents.
We have developed a one-hour training in the e-learning format. Because emergency response and management is not limited to violence and lockdowns, we also encourage you to browse other trainings and services provided by Code Red Training Associates, Inc.
